Higher Ed Social is the world's largest professional society for social media managers working in education
Founded in 2015 the HigherEdSocial community has become the largest and most recognizable association for social media managers, video production, graphic design and photography, and digital communication professionals working in the education sector. Our over 10,200 members come from more than 80 countries around the world and from thousands of different colleges and universities.
In 2019 we expanded to offer the sub-community; K-12Social for our colleagues who work in lower school education including, primary, middle, and high school compulsory education in both private and public schools. While the duties are very similar the distinctness of their community population makes them a special subset of our work and that warrants their own community. In 2021 we expanded again with a sub-community specifically for Marketing & Comms professionals, and an Admissions Mastermind community specifically for enrollment management professionals.
We are the first professional society for social media managers and seek to lend credibility to this emerging industry and professional career path. Online communication has evolved over the past two decades and since the advent of social media platforms, has become increasingly important for marketing, sales, and online community management.
In 2022 HigherEdSocial looks forward to an increasingly important role in the education sector and shaping the conversation around the value of higher education and its place in our society. We hope you will join us!

The core mission of HigherEdSocial is to provide industry best practices and training to our members. Our society regularly hosts informational webinars, round tables, and conferences to encourage knowledge sharing in the community. In addition, we endorse the National Institute of Social Media as the industry standard for social media certification.
Webinars and events will be updated as they are scheduled and training courses typically come out quarterly. If there is a training you are interested in but do not see offered, contact us and we will work to provide it in the future.
Webinars on industry best practices as well as platform demos and community conversations are held bi-monthly and require registration.
The Higher Ed Social Academy is the hub for our internally developed courses open to all members. New courses and training are added regularly.

Student $40 per year | Must be an active student and submit proof of student status
Professional $90 per year | For those members who are employed at an educational institution.
Corporate $125 per year | For those members who are employed outside of education at a marketing agency, technology platform, or related corporate position.
