We are seeking a Social Media Associate who will serve as a multi-platform content producer for the Bloomberg School of Public Health's flagship social media accounts. They manage the day-to-day content calendar for the school's social media accounts, and they stay informed on the best practices with established and emerging social networks. The Associate helps shape the strategic direction of the school's social media presence, and they advise colleagues on how social media can help them achieve their goals.
The Associate should be comfortable producing two types of content on a consistent basis for social media.
Posts produced by the Social Media Associate should fulfill several goals. Generally, they should engage, entertain, and educate online audiences about important public health topics. They should also promote the school, its community and facilities. It is important for the Social Media Associate to establish a good grasp of a broad range of public health concepts so that they are able to produce successful content. It is also important for the Social Media Associate to be reliable, productive, and capable of developing content on a consistent basis. To accomplish these goals, the Social Media Associate should have a keen interest in online trends, and they should be a strong writer who also feels comfortable using design software (e.g. Adobe CS). The Associate will often work with colleagues on the Editorial, Video Production, Graphic Design, and Content Strategy teams. Target audiences for this work will include prospective students, faculty, staff, donors, partners, and other audiences locally, nationally, and internationally who could benefit from public health guidance.
The Social Media Associate sits on the Audience and Marketing team in the Office of External Affairs led by the Director of Audience Development, and the Associate may have some supervisory experience for students working with the team. The Social Media Associate will also have opportunities to work in close coordination with the school's admissions teams, academic program managers, and other communications and marketing associates within the school's 10 academic departments. The role will have direct contact with students, faculty and researchers to generate and review editorial content. The Associate will have direct access to the school's digital marketing tools, including Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics and others.
