 Essential Job Functions

  • Manages assigned social media accounts posting content, creating campaigns, maintaining current images and design, responding to questions and utilizing monitoring tools (e.g. Sprout Social) to monitor social media traffic against assigned accounts, hashtags or keywords
  • Plans, implements and monitors social media programs and campaigns in accordance with university identity and communications standards
  • Develops initiatives in social networking, video sharing, web communities and other social media sites and technologies to promote student engagement
  • Creates, maintains and serves as owner of social media content calendar for scheduling and event coverage
  • Serves as point of contact for news, alerts and time sensitive postings, as appropriate
  • Develops inter-departmental relationships and collaborates with department team members to share assets (e.g. content, images, video) in a timely manner to maintain effective social media coverage
  • Establishes metrics and tracks social media initiatives to measure effectiveness and success, planning for continuous improvement on each campaign
  • Conducts social media information sessions for staff and student groups on best practices (e.g. appropriate use, privacy)
  • Creates, maintains and audits both print and online content
  • Coordinates with and assists departments in student social media initiatives, planning marketing campaigns and prepares media kits for large university activities, as necessary
  • Researches and maintains an inventory of sites related to JWU and stays abreast of industry trends, changes and new technologies, as assigned
  • Monitors social media accounts in various platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram) to assure other sites are not improperly using JWU logo, images; reports to appropriate department if sites are found to do so
  • Supervises and manages student employees, as necessary, to enhance their academic and professional development
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree
  • Experience working in web communications, social media marketing and analysis or in other related work 
  • Video and photography skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social media communications, journalism, English or a related field of study 

 

Please note: Qualified candidates must live or relocate within a daily commuting distance of the Charlotte Campus location upon hire.
